Officers executed two drugs warrants in Swindon yesterday morning.
The warrants were executed at addresses in Freshbrook and the town centre and two local men, both aged in their 40s, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, possession with intent to supply and money laundering.
Both men were taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning and have since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.
During the warrants, officers seized hundreds of pounds of cash and suspected class A drugs worth several thousands of pounds.
Det Supt Steve Kirby said: “Proactive officers have arrested these two individuals and in the process seized a large amount of suspected class A drugs, preventing them from reaching the streets of Swindon and into the hands of vulnerable people.
“Despite the ongoing health pandemic which understandably is at the forefront of everybody’s minds at the moment, officers remain committed to dismantling and disrupting organised crime groups and this includes illegal drug supply in our communities. This work falls under Project Optimise which we launched earlier this year. I am pleased with the results from today’s warrants. I hope this news sends a reassuring message to local residents.
“If you suspect drug activity in your neighbourhood – please report it to police. Call 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
