Both vehicles were believed to be stolen and being driven on false plates. The vehicles made off at speed and the Yeti was seen to crash into an electricity station in Emerson Close. The Audi also crashed nearby.

Five males were seen to run from the vehicles through an alleyway.

Enquiries in relation to the incident have been ongoing and on Thursday (07/05), officers attended two separate addresses in Penhill to make two arrests in connection with the incident.

A 19-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

An 18-year-old local man was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of class B.

Whilst at the addresses, officers seized approximately £3,000 worth of class A drugs and £1,000 worth of cannabis

Both were taken to Gablecross custody and have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Det Supt Steve Kirby, who leads Project Optimise – the force’s collaborative response to serious and organised crime, said: “Proactive officers have been conducting extensive enquiries since this initial incident and have been able to identify two individuals who we have since arrested in connection with the incident.

“Whilst in attendance at their separate addresses, cannabis was found in the garden shed of one of the addresses, while a number of wraps of suspected class A drugs were found prepared in a shed at the second address.”
