A local Swindon football club says travellers have pitched up within its fields.
Stratton Juniors said it was in contact with relevant authorities over their presence on its grounds off Cricklade Road.
In a statement the club warned people to stay clear of the grounds until further notice. “We are aware that a group of travellers has taken up camp at the football club.
“We are currently working with the relevant authorities, please stay clear of the the club and grounds until further notice.”
It comes less than a week after a traveller encampment was set up on the Polo Ground in Marlborough Road with the council left with the job of clearing the site.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said “We are aware of a group of travellers who have pitched up at Millenium Park in Upper Stratton, Swindon this afternoon.
“Swindon Borough Council’s Traveller Liaison Officer has been informed and is expected to engage with the group in due course.”
It is not known if it is the same group of travellers and we await further information from Swindon Borough Council.
