The Swindonian were contacted earlier today from a worried reader concerned that her holiday was about to be cancelled and another British icon was set to closed.
Social media has today been awash with rumours that Monarch Airlines, who have been running for 48 years, have recalled all of their planes back to the UK and were about to shut up shop.
Georgia Smith of Park South who is flying out to Ibiza from London Gatwick in the early hours of tomorrow morning was concerned that her holiday would not be going ahead, “I booked this ages ago and now if they close I won’t be able to go!” she commented in a message to us.
“I have been waiting for this holiday for months, I have the time off work so what else will I do? There’s no way I can book anything by the morning.”
An operator at Monarch Airlines customer services advised “It’s all a hoax, we are not bringing our planes home, well we are but with passengers on, they will soon be flying back out again.”
Although no official statement has been made the administrators of the companies Twitter account have been trying to reassure users today that these rumours are simply not true.
Well fingers crossed Monday morning sees an official statement from the Airline to put these rumours to bed once and for all.
