Households in some SN1 postcode areas of Swindon woke up on Christmas Day to find they had no electricity, with others losing powers as the Christmas turkey was half-way through cooking.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said properties in SN1 5ES, SN1 5EU, SN1 5EZ and SN1 5HA were affected.
It said the loss of power was caused by an unexpected problem with cables or equipment, staff were working hard to restore supplies and it estimated residents’ electricity would be back on by 6pm, and power was subsequently restored.
A spokesman said: “We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
