Three-month closure order for Walcot home linked to drug dealing

A property in Walcot – which has been linked to drug dealing – has been served with a three-month partial closure order – the 40th in Swindon in the past 12 months.

This order, granted by Swindon Magistrates yesterday, means that anyone other than the residents who enters the premises in Baileys Farm Gardens, during that time faces prosecution.

The home was searched under a drugs warrant on Tuesday 1st September where a quantity of Class A and B drugs and a Taser were recovered from the address.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested for possession with intent to supply and has since been released under investigation.

Sgt Rich Fay said: “Closure orders of this nature enable us to protect the resident, local community, and prevent properties being used for the storage and preparation of drugs to be sold within our communities.

“The order will remain in place for three months – during this time we will continue to work with partner agencies including Swindon Borough Council, to come up with a long term solution to the problem.

“This is the 40th order of this nature that we as a Force have obtained in Swindon in the past 12 months and we will continue to target addresses that are being used to deal drugs from as the tactic has proved to be extremely successful in protecting our communities.”
