Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is urging everyone to embrace the 30 Days Wild challenge by engaging in one simple, wild activity each day throughout the month of June.
The 30 Days Wild challenge, organised by The Wildlife Trusts and generously supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, is the largest nature challenge in the UK.
This annual event encourages people of all ages to connect with nature every day for an entire month. Over the past nine years, more than two million individuals have participated, with over 500,000 people taking on the challenge last year alone.
Participants can enjoy a variety of popular activities such as observing wildlife, dining outdoors, sowing wildflower seeds, and listening to the melodies of birdsong. Other beloved pastimes include insect hunting, fruit picking, cultivating plants and flowers, exploring nature reserves, creating miniature ponds, and embarking on peaceful river walks.
This year, 30 Days Wild presents a new twist by taking participants on a week-by-week adventure through five distinct themes:
- Engaging the senses
- Movement and play
- Learning and discovery
- Assisting nature
- Emotionally connecting with nature
Weekly inspiration centered around these themes will serve as a guide for individuals, families, and friends throughout the challenge, enabling them to successfully complete the 30-day target. Moreover, every participant who signs up will receive a 30 Days Wild activity pack, containing a captivating wild bee poster, seeds, and other enjoyable materials to inspire daily encounters with the wild.
Research has demonstrated that spending time in nature can alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression, while also enhancing physical well-being. We are all familiar with the positive impact that connecting with nature can have on our happiness and overall health. So, mark your calendars and sign up today to embark on this transformative journey!
Kirstine Bowen, Marketing and Communications Manager for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, says: “We hope you will take part in our biggest nature challenge this year – a great excuse to get out and enjoy all that the great outdoors has to offer! Whether tuning into the sound of bird life, taking a stroll through your local woods, discovering one of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s many nature reserves, making time to build a bug hotel or bird box, or even taking part in one of the Trust’s volunteer group activities, whatever you choose to do, there are limitless opportunities to connect with nature, whatever your age. Please get involved and tell all your family and friends to join in, too!”
