The green list for foreign holiday destinations to be released Friday

Swindonians desperate for a summer holiday will find out where they can travel to without the need for quarantine later this week when the official ‘Green List’ is published by the Joint Biosecurity Centre..

Government officials including Transport Minister Grant Shapps and Health Minister Matt Hancock are due to sign off on the green, amber and red lists on Thursday, which will then be released to the public on Friday May 7th.

It is understood ministers will base their decision on a number of factors including infection rates, percentage of the population vaccinated and whether there are variants of concern.

People arriving from a green list location will not have quarantine, while those returning from somewhere on the amber list must self-isolate for at least five days.

The red list will require travellers to spend 10-nights in a quarantine hotel at a cost of £1,750 on their return.

Current Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) guidance is not advising against non-essential travel to eight locations which although is no guarantee, is a strong indication that they will feature on the early green list.
