The harmonious sounds of music are resonating through the halls of Eldene Nursery and Primary School, thanks to a generous £1,000 grant from Tesco that is set to elevate the musical talents of its students.
In line with the Department for Education’s directive for primary schools to nurture musical proficiency among children, Eldene School seized the opportunity to apply for funding through Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme. This initiative aims to empower charities and community organisations making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.
Headteacher Heather Kellett expressed her gratitude for Tesco’s support, explaining the transformative effect the funding will have on the school’s curriculum. “The money has gone towards improving the curriculum for the children. We are very grateful to Tesco for this funding.
“We encourage children to develop a love of music through exciting lessons, and these new instruments will help us to do the very best for the children,” Kellett continued, underscoring the school’s commitment to holistic learning.
The Stronger Starts scheme, operated in collaboration with Groundwork charity, aims to support many Swindon community projects and good causes in the coming years, with thousands of pounds to give away. Tesco’s Head of Community, Claire De Silva, expressed delight in witnessing the tangible impact of the funding on local initiatives like Eldene Nursery and Primary School.
“We’re delighted that we can help groups and clubs like Eldene Nursery and Primary School” remarked De Silva, highlighting the scheme’s reliance on community engagement through customer voting.
Tesco shoppers can play a pivotal role by casting their blue tokens in support of deserving local projects as they conclude their shopping trips.
Swindon residents are encouraged to rally behind their local schools and children’s groups by participating in Tesco’s voting process, to help enrich the lives of young learners.
