Tesco has become the latest supermarket giant to ration eggs for customers because of supply chain issues, following that of Asda, Aldi and Lidl, which started rationing eggs for customers last week.
Shoppers will only be able to buy a maximum of three boxes, and this will be monitored when they get to the checkout.
The shortage of eggs is due to rising costs and an avian flu outbreak.
There have been 252 cases of avian flu since the outbreak began in October last year leading the government to tell farmers to keep all poultry and captive birds indoors.
118 of the total cases have occurred since 1st October this year, seeing millions of birds either die of the virus or be culled.
The latest confirmed avian flu outbreak has been found at a farm near Barnard Castle, Durham. All birds at the site will now be culled, and a 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have been set up.
