The BBC iPlayer is about to stop working on millions of Windows phones.
The BBC say it is “no longer cost effective” to keep running its iPlayer app on the Windows platform.
After April millions of users browsing on Windows 8.1 will no longer be able to get the iPlayer although it will still be possible to get the iPlayer using the Microsoft Edge browser.
Windows 8.1 customers are advised to upgrade to Windows 10 if they want to continue using iPlayer. This will allow you to be able to play content from BBC iPlayer and BBC iPlayer Radio whereas if you remain on Windows Phone 8.1, you will only be able to play radio programmes.
