Swindon’s Fiona Scott Makes Final Cut for National Business Award

Swindon’s own Fiona Scott, public relations specialist and journalist, is in the running for one of the country’s most prestigious business titles.

Fiona, founder and Managing Director of Scott Media, has been shortlisted for Solopreneur of the Year at the Great British Business Awards, a category that shines a light on those who run their businesses entirely on their own steam. It comes hot on the heels of her recent win as Solopreneur of the Year for the South West.

Speaking about her latest success, Fiona said:
“It is a real honour to have been nominated for the Great British Business Awards and to have reached the finals. Small businesses often get overlooked, so to be recognised in this way is really rewarding. Running your own business is hard work, with lots of late nights and difficult decisions, and this nomination is testament to the dedication and passion that I and the team I have around me put in.”

Scott Media has been part of the local business landscape for more than 17 years. Drawing on Fiona’s background as a TV and newspaper journalist, the company specialises in helping clients get their good news stories in front of the right audiences. Her approach is simple: place PR at the centre of marketing strategies to get real results.

But Fiona is not one to stand still. Over the last 18 months, she has launched Scott Media Speakers, spotting a gap in the market for a speakers’ agency aimed at those keen to get started on the circuit. The venture now has more than 50 speakers signed up, many of whom are already picking up regular bookings.

Add to that her own popular podcast – The PR Not BS Podcast – closing in on 100 episodes and over 4,000 downloads, and it’s clear that Fiona has been keeping herself busy.

Never one to forget the wider business community, she also continues to champion fellow entrepreneurs, sponsoring the Best Solopreneur category at the Best Businesswomen Awards earlier this year.

The winners of the Great British Business Awards will be revealed at a ceremony in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, on September 26. Whatever happens on the night, Fiona has already flown the flag for Swindon and proved that independent businesses can make a national impact.
