A Swindon woman has been jailed after admitting to supplying Class A drugs across the town.
Natalie Hughes, 34, of Marlowe Avenue, appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Tuesday (26 August) where she pleaded guilty to a string of offences including being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin, possession with intent to supply cannabis, and possession of criminal property. She was sentenced to 34 months in prison.
Police enquiries between 13 May and 16 June linked Hughes to a drugs line advertising and selling crack cocaine and heroin in Swindon.
On 16 June, officers saw Hughes meeting users on Villett Street before stopping her vehicle. A search uncovered cash, Class A drugs and two mobile phones, one of which was identified as the drugs line.
Hughes was then arrested. Further searches revealed she had more wraps of cocaine and heroin concealed in her clothing. A raid on her home later found more drugs, cash, scales and packaging.
PC Guy, from Swindon’s Local Policing Tasking Team, said the case showed the force’s determination to tackle drug supply:
“This conviction demonstrates that those who profit from selling heroin and cocaine in our communities will be pursued and brought to justice.
“Drugs not only harm individuals but fuel violence, exploitation, and crimes like shoplifting and antisocial behaviour. We will continue to target dealers and work with partners to break the cycle of addiction and exploitation.”
