Swindon & Wiltshire Pride has proudly named Bobbi Pickard—CEO of the national charity Trans in the City—as its first-ever Patron.
Bobbi, who has long been a powerful voice for transgender inclusion across the UK, joins the charity with a mission to support and amplify the work being done here in Swindon and beyond. Known for her relentless advocacy and hands-on activism, Bobbi’s appointment marks a significant stride forward in Pride’s commitment to celebrating diversity and standing up for the rights of all individuals—particularly those from the trans and non-binary communities.
Paul Stewart, Chairperson of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride, shared his enthusiasm for what the future holds.
“Bobbi has been an inspiring force in the fight for trans rights, and we are thrilled to welcome her as our inaugural Patron,” he said. “Her leadership, passion, and commitment to inclusivity echo our values and the work we do every day. It’s a proud moment for us.”
Bobbi will be actively involved in supporting Swindon & Wiltshire Pride’s initiatives throughout the year, helping to raise awareness of transgender issues, promote inclusivity, and bring focus to the lived experiences of trans individuals across Wiltshire.
Speaking on her appointment, Bobbi said: “I’m so honoured and happy to be announced as Swindon and Wiltshire Pride’s first patron—it’s a charity, and a group of people, I have so much love and respect for. The work they do for our community, especially the trans and non-binary community, is astounding and I look forward to helping them, however I can, in all their future activities.”
The announcement comes as Swindon & Wiltshire Pride prepares to return to GWR Park on Saturday, 9th August. The popular annual event, which draws crowds from across the South West, will once again feature a Pride March through the town before a vibrant day of celebration at the park. Free tickets will be made available from June.
