Denise Dymond, a trustee of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride, graciously accepted the award during the ceremony. In her heartfelt speech, she extended gratitude to the sponsors, allies, and dedicated volunteers who have been instrumental in the organisation’s success. “We’re deeply appreciative of the unwavering support from the people of Wiltshire, who have embraced diversity and empowered us to pursue our mission of advocating for equality within the community.

“Swindon & Wiltshire Pride is more than just a charity; it’s a tight-knit family,” remarked Dymond.

Central to the ethos of the charity is the promotion of equality and diversity, with a commitment to eliminating discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The volunteer-led group actively participates in various events throughout the year, championing diversity initiatives. Their efforts include the creation of a comprehensive LGBTQIA+ support guide distributed in schools, libraries, and across the local community, as well as the operation of a weekly Pride Hub in Regent Circus.

Reflecting on the significance of the award, Paul Stewart, chairperson of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride, expressed profound humility. “We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition for the tireless efforts of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride.

“To be nominated alongside other community groups that epitomise the pride of Wiltshire is truly special. This award is a testament to the dedication of all those working tirelessly to enhance their communities. It underscores the transformative power of collective action in effecting meaningful change,” remarked Stewart.

The ceremony, held on Friday evening in Devizes, also celebrated the achievements of other organisations, including the Salisbury Community Hub for Ukraine, who were jointly awarded the title of ‘Community Group of the Year’ alongside Swindon & Wiltshire Pride.
