The new Swindon Social Enterprise Network (SSEN) was formally launched today; Wednesday 14thNovember at the Central Community Centre, Emlyn Square, SN1 5BP. As part of the launch a 4 minute film, produced by Create Studios, about the two Social Enterprises (SE’s) operated by the Salvation Army at Booth House, Swindon was premiered and is now available to view on the SSEN website: https://www.swindonsocialenterprise.com/case-studies
The Salvation Army’s Booth House www.salvationarmy.org.uk/booth-house-swindon accommodates men and women experiencing homelessness. They work with them to identify their needs to achieve independent living. As part of this programme they operate two SE’s from Booth House in central Swindon: Recycles and The Sandwich People providing their residents with opportunities to acquire new skills and qualifications in a work environment.
Recycles www.recycles-swindon.co.uk is open to the public Wed to Sat, 10am to 4pm on Princes Street. They refurbish bicycles for resell, provide repairs, servicing, new accessories and training courses for those wanting to maintain their own bike.
The Sandwich People www.thesandwichpeople.co.ukoffer a great value for money breakfast and lunch buffet service to local companies and other organisations. They also deliver pre-ordered fresh sandwiches, baguettes, wraps, snacks and drinks on a daily basis. The Sandwich People provided the buffet lunch at the SSEN launch event.
