Swindon is emerging as a powerhouse in the new build property sector, boasting a remarkable 23% increase in demand for new properties compared to the same period in 2023, positioning the town among the UK’s most sought-after locations for homebuyers.
This insight comes from the latest data provided by leading new-home property website, newhomesforsale.co.uk.
The website, featuring ten new build sites in and around Swindon town centre, has revealed an added incentive for prospective buyers. Entry prices for new builds in the area are nearly £165,000 lower than the national property average, which stood at £284,950 as of November 2023. New build properties in Swindon start at an attractive £120,000.
A significant 70% of those searching for newly built properties in Swindon this year are First Time Buyers, signaling a clear and growing demand to step onto the property ladder despite the recent rise in mortgage rates. This trend has propelled the region into the top 10 locations for new home buyers in the UK.
Vernon Pethard, Founder and Director of newhomesforsale.co.uk, shared insights on the data, stating, “Swindon is in a clear top 10 position in both January 2023 and 2024. The £33 million regeneration plans within the town centre, positive transport links, and a more affordable entry price point place Swindon in a strong and attractive position for prospective buyers, particularly those aiming to get onto the property ladder for the first time.”
Despite the challenges faced by the property market in 2023, search volume and demand remained consistently high. With mortgage rates showing signs of decline, Pethard anticipates a positive outlook for 2024, positioning Swindon as one of the UK’s leading locations for new home buyers.
Newhomesforsale.co.uk, established in 1998, showcases over 2,400 developments from national house builders, housing associations, and estate agents across the UK, establishing itself as a prominent platform within the new build sector.
