Pupils and parents at The Croft Primary School, have been taking part in a sponsored read to raise money for to help improve their school library.
The Croft Primary School wanted to further develop their literary selection in order to be able to offer a wider range of books for their pupils. To achieve this they needed some extra funds, which is where the idea of the readathon came in.
Their readathon challenged pupils to read as many books as possible before World Book Day 2023.
Families and Friends were then invited to sponsor the children’s efforts, raising over £3,000, far exceeding what was expected.
Ecstatic with the amount of funds they raised, Principal, Mrs Elaine Murphy, said “Thank you to all of our wonderful families who put in an incredible effort. The determination of our pupils and the generosity of our community means we can afford to buy a large quantity of new books for our Library area.
“We are glad to be able to offer our pupils the opportunity to further enhance their love of reading.”
