Swindon Residents Join Forces Once Again to Save with Solar Together Scheme

The popular Solar Together scheme is making its return to Swindon this summer, and residents keen to cut energy bills and reduce their environmental impact are being urged to take note.

In partnership with Wiltshire Council and iChoosr – a company well-versed in group-buying – Swindon Borough Council is inviting homeowners to register their interest from Monday, 2nd June 2025. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the scheme has already seen over 600 Swindon residents take part since 2022.

The initiative offers a practical solution for those looking to invest in solar panels, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging points. What sets Solar Together apart is its collective approach – by grouping residents together, the scheme is able to negotiate favourable rates from trusted, pre-vetted installers, allowing households to benefit from discounts that would be unlikely on the open market.

Last year’s participants secured up to 39% off typical market prices, with 165 Swindon households taking advantage of the opportunity to go greener.

Deputy Council Leader and Greener Swindon Ambassador, Councillor Emma Bushell, said:
“I’m pleased to see this scheme returning for a fourth year. With energy costs still uncertain and many households looking to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, Solar Together provides a reliable, cost-effective way to make that transition.”

Residents who sign up are under no obligation to go through with installation – once registered, they will be provided with a personalised offer and the option to proceed or walk away.

Councillor Bushell added: “This is about empowering residents to take control of their energy usage and costs. We want to help build a greener Swindon and part of that means making it easier for people to make sustainable choices.”

The scheme is open until Friday, 8th August 2025. To qualify, residents must either own their home or have the relevant permissions to install solar panels. Small and medium-sized businesses and Commonhold Associations may also be eligible.

Further details, including estimated savings and generation potential, can be found on the Solar Together website.
