Swindon Palestine Solidarity Group Call for Ceasefire in Palestine

Swindon Palestine Solidarity passionately declares its ongoing dedication to peace and justice in Palestine, extending a heartfelt plea for a ceasefire. On Saturday, 25th November 2023, the residents of Swindon have a crucial opportunity to amplify their voices on a national platform at the national march in London.

Swindon Palestine Solidarity is a community group devoted to advocating for peace, justice, and human rights in Palestine. Formed by concerned Swindon residents, the group stands against the ongoing conflict and seeks to raise awareness and support for the Palestinian cause.

Fadoua Govaerts, a representative of Swindon Palestine Solidarity from Central Swindon, said, “Our hearts are with the children of Palestine in particular. This is a case where we must remind everyone that all lives should and must matter!

“We are urging our community to act now. It’s more than a political statement – it’s an appeal to our shared humanity.”

The group is actively coordinating travel to London for the national march, building on the success of their previous events, which saw fifty Swindon residents participating. The coach is organised by Swindon Palestine Solidarity Group in collaboration with other organisations, including the Socialist, Stop the War Coalition, and concerned Swindon residents in general.

Peter Dilly from West Swindon states, “This time, we are aiming for a thousand. Our small town must be counted on the right side of history.”

Details of the coach are as follows:

  • Departure: 8:30 AM, Chapel Street, Swindon.
  • Tickets: Available via Eventbrite.
  • For those traveling independently: Please register through the same link to coordinate and march together.

In addition to the national march, Swindon Palestine Solidarity is organising a local rally on Saturday, 2nd December 2023, to further galvanise support and awareness. Full details of this event will be published on the Swindon Palestine Solidarity Facebook page.

The group encourages Swindon residents to actively engage with MPs and councillors, pressing for an immediate and necessary ceasefire. Abdul Khalique Ali, of Purton, said “Every voice counts. Write to your MP, join the march, stand with us at the rally. Together, we can be the miracle that changes the course of this conflict.”
