Swindon’s Head of Libraries, Allyson Jordan who has been looking after the towns public bookshelves for the past 14 years, will be leaving on 24th November 2021.
A spokesperson for Swindon Borough Council said ‘this is not just the end of a chapter, but rather the epilogue of a fantastic saga which saw our boss working in many different roles across Swindon’s libraries since she first joined us back in 1986!’
‘Her wisdom, experience, and passion for public libraries will be sorely missed.’
Throughout the 14 years with the library, Allyson has seen many changes: the introduction of new technology like eBooks and electronic library resources; the opening of new libraries like Highworth and North Swindon; and celebrated Swindon Libraries’ 70th anniversary celebrations in 2013.
Allyson also had the privilege of showing HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, around the newly-completed Central Library during its Royal Opening in May 2009.
If you wish to send your own message to mark Allyson’s departure, the Library Service have created a digital form for you to do so.
Messages will then be collated and passed on to Allyson on her last day.
