Last month, Royal Wootton Bassett Academy transformed into a bustling hub of entertainment as it welcomed primary schools for an afternoon of theatrical brilliance with their rendition of the classic musical, ‘Bugsy Malone’.
The stage came alive with dazzling performances, grand slams, and rib-tickling whipped cream gun fights, leaving the audience in awe.

The academy’s performing arts team, fueled by dedication and passion, spared no effort in bringing this show to life for a three-night-only spectacular showcase, complete with a live orchestra. Months of rehearsals and tireless preparation culminated in a performance that truly captivated the hearts of all who attended.
Reflecting on their experience, students shared their thoughts on the production. Chloe expressed, “Bugsy was a great experience and we all made lots of extra friends.” Archie remarked, “A treat to watch and fun to perform.” Mia added, “Bugsy was a real fun time and comedic too.”
Mrs. Markham-Lee, Head of Drama, commended the collective effort of both staff and students, acknowledging the immense dedication and commitment required to stage such a production. She remarked, “Shows of this size take an incredible amount of dedication and commitment from both staff and students. It is overwhelming to see it all pull together and the students shining on stage in their roles. From the dancers, musicians, backstage crew to the lead roles, the show wouldn’t be possible without them all and I want to say a massive thank you.”
The success of ‘Bugsy Malone’ is a testament to the talent and hard work of everyone involved, reaffirming Royal Wootton Bassett Academy’s commitment to nurturing creativity and excellence in the performing arts.
