In an exciting development for the local rugby scene, Swindon St George Rugby League Club is forging a groundbreaking partnership with Swindon Rugby Football Club (RFC) ahead of the new Rugby League season.
Chairman of St George, Warren Huggins, expressed his elation at the collaboration, stating, “We are relocating our entire operation to Greenbridge Road for 2024 and beyond. This marks a pivotal moment in our club’s history, and we extend our gratitude to Swindon RFC for their hospitality and cooperation with our development plans. We are committed to ensuring the success of this partnership for both clubs.”
In addition to the relocation, Swindon St George has secured a significant sponsorship deal with Power Wash Contractors Ltd, a prominent exterior cleaning company based in Cheney Manor. Power Wash Contractors Ltd will serve as the main sponsor for the open-age men’s team and support the thriving junior section, demonstrating their commitment to grassroots rugby.
On the field, excitement and optimism are high as the men’s team prepares to compete in the Midlands Premier League, facing formidable opponents such as Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, and local rivals Oxford.
While the competition is fierce, the club is confident that with the support of Swindon RFC and the right infrastructure in place, they can excel at this elevated level of Rugby League. Additionally, St George will field a women’s team, a wheelchair team, and a Masters RL section, alongside an extensive junior program catering to both boys and girls.
