On This Day – 1994 Swindon record their last Premier League victory

On this day back in 1994 and just five months after recording their first ever Premier League victory against the same team, Swindon fans staged a relegation party at Loftus Road beating QPR 3-1.

In front of just 9,875 fans the two teams played out a drab first half before Shaun Taylor headed home from close range to put Town in front in the 64th minute.

This lead was to last only nine minutes before Les Ferdinand found acres of space in the box from a Ray Wilkins free kick and levelled for the home team.

Already relegated after an awful season the Town players picked themselves up and just four minutes of the game being level Jan Aage Fjortoft reacted quickest to Keith Scott’s effort rebounding off the post to put Town back in the lead.

Nicky Summerbee scored a third deep into injury time ensuring Town bow out of the Premier League having done the double over Queens Park Rangers in a season that saw them pick up just five wins..
