In honour of World Book Day, The Park Academies Trust (TPAT) schools organised a range of themed activities throughout last week. Renowned children’s author and parent at Orchid Vale primary school, Kate Claxton, delighted students with her presence, conducting writing workshops and serving as the school’s resident author.

Meanwhile, across the Trust, children delved into reading and writing exercises based on their favorite literary works. Class teachers showcased their students’ hard work through videos shared among TPAT primary schools, fostering a sense of community and literary camaraderie.

The theme for this year’s World Book Day, ‘Read Your Own Way’, encouraged children to embrace diverse reading preferences and celebrate individuality. Bridlewood Primary School exemplified this ethos by exchanging book gifts between classes and engaging in book-related activities throughout the week.

The literary festivities reached a crescendo at Bridlewood primary school with a thrilling Poetry Slam on the Friday, where budding wordsmiths showcased their poetic prowess to the entire school.

Amidst the celebrations, pupils were encouraged to listen to captivating stories shared by their peers and teachers, further igniting their passion for literature and storytelling.

James Nicholson, Interim CEO of The Park Academies Trust, expressed delight at the students’ enthusiasm, stating, “World Book Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joys of reading and writing while emphasizing the importance of literacy for our pupils. Our commitment to nurturing a lifelong love of books extends beyond this annual event, as we strive to inspire our children to become avid readers and storytellers throughout their educational journey and beyond.”
