With four wins and two draws in the group stage, the Grange Junior girls advanced to the semi-finals, where they clinched victory on penalties. The final saw them face Newport County, whose defence had been near impenetrable throughout the tournament. However, the Swindon side broke through with a decisive goal, sealing the win and earning their ticket to the national stage.

Miss Hollie, Year 5 teacher and team coach, said: “Throughout the whole tournament, the girls showed excellent teamwork and determination. Since September, I’ve seen just how committed they are, putting in the effort during training and matches. It’s been fantastic to see all their hard work pay off, and as their coach, I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved.”

Grange Junior School’s headteacher, Mrs Gordon, added: “We are so incredibly proud of the girls and the resilience they have shown. A huge congratulations to Newport for a fantastic performance, and to Exeter City, who secured their place in the nationals alongside us. We can’t wait for the next stage in June and hope this is just the start of many more victories.”

The national finals will see the Grange Junior team represent Swindon on a bigger stage, competing against top schools from across the country. With their skill, teamwork, and determination, they will be a team to watch.
