The streets of Eastcott are alive with creativity as the much-anticipated Eastcott Window Wanderland kicked off yesterday, enchanting locals and visitors alike with its dazzling displays of imagination.
Running until the 3rd of March, this annual event, now in its sixth year, sees residents of the ward transforming their windows into captivating scenes, this year inspired by their favourite books, films, or TV shows.
Participants were encouraged to let their creativity flourish, resulting in a kaleidoscope of unique and vibrant displays throughout the streets. From whimsical fairy tales to gripping cinematic moments, each window tells its own story, adding to the charm of this beloved community event.
Since its inception in 2015, Window Wanderland has captured the hearts of communities nationwide, inspiring individuals to come together and celebrate the magic of light and colour.
Steph Newton, co-chair of the Eastcott Community Organisation (ECO), expressed her delight at the event’s ability to bring people together.
“It’s a great free event to bring the community together and everybody in Eastcott is welcome to take part,” said Steph.
“Window Wanderland brings a lot of pleasure; it’s lovely to view the windows and to see so many people out and about on the walking trail.”
Organised by dedicated volunteers and community groups, each Wanderland is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared creativity. With a focus on fostering a sense of community spirit, Window Wanderland offers resources and support to those looking to participate, whether as organisers, window designers, or enthusiastic spectators.
“It’s about FUN,” Steph emphasised. “You don’t need to be creative or artistic to be part of your local Window Wanderland, and no one is judging your efforts – just being in the audience of a Wanderland is connection enough.”
As the streets of Eastcott come alive with light and colour, Window Wanderland illuminates not only the physical spaces but also the bonds that unite the community, creating cherished memories for years to come.
