Churchfields Academy to change name and join Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust

Churchfields Academy has been granted permission to become part of a Multi Academy Trust with Royal Wootton Bassett Academy.

The process has entered a formal stage and consultations have begun between staff for Churchfields to join the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust (RWBAT) on 1st May 2017.

Benefits can already be seen within the school from the North Wiltshire Teaching School and sharing good practice between faculties to improve both the teaching and learning in the school.  Year 11 pupils were also able to attend a Sixth Form taster day at RWBA, prompting more pupils to make applications to continue their Sixth Form studies at RWBA.

Churchfields have also spent a lot of time this year forming a new vision for the school of ‘Creating and Inspiring Futures for All’.  The vision extends to both staff and pupils and drives all of the improvements that are taking place throughout the school, but with a particular focus on teaching and learning.

The school has moved to a different cultural position with the new I LEARN values (Independence, Literacy, Equipment Attitudes, Resilience, Numeracy) included in everything they do.  To embed this culture of change further, they will be changing the name of the school when they join the new Multi Academy Trust to Lawn Manor Academy.

Lawn Manor Academy will continue with the new vision of ‘Inspiring and Creating Futures for All’ and will bring back the historical significance of the land where the school is situated to the town and local area.

Work will be done alongside the Swindon Heritage and Swindon Museum to maximise the opportunities to bring awareness to the new name and the area.
