Normally any reports we write up from the Swindon Highways department have a certain section of the readership gnashing their teeth regarding potential delays and disruption to their lives, even when the work is for the long term betterment of the town in general. So for a change it is nice to be able to report on something that can only be seen in positive terms, even by the most cynical traveller. And that is that bus users and visitors to Swindon will be greeted with flowers when they pull into Swindon Bus Station.
The Council’s Passenger Transport Team has been working with Stagecoach Swindon to brighten up the bus station following the demolition of Carlton Street Car Park earlier this year.
A window wrap has been installed at the bus station to introduce visitors to Swindon when they arrive, while hanging baskets and planters have recently been added to bring some colour and greenery to the area.
The initiative was started during Stagecoach’s Green Week just before the summer and who’s day can’t be improved by a dash of colour and a fragrant scent whilst undertaking the daily commute?
