Ever since the controversial junction was opened last year residents and motorists alike have been complaining at the lengthy traffic queues and the weird non-conventional give way to the left exit from the bridges onto Rodbourne Road.
Well finally it seems the council have realised their error in making the junction this way although it ‘would be very controversial to reverse now’.
Why now then you may ask, after a year of complaints and remodelling with red and white plastic bollards why now are the council proposing to change the road?

That’s right you read that correctly, Aldi want to build their latest budget store on Rodbourne Road and Swindon Borough Council are now looking to change the give way priority coming off of the roundabout.
So why are the voices of the local residents ignored for a full year?
Whatever the reason, Sean Good, Transport Development Management Officer at Swindon Borough Council has finally seen sense and despite the controversy in reversing the decision is offering his solution ‘to propose changes to the priority of the traffic coming off of Bruce Street Bridges with the give way removed from this arm and moved to the Kemble Drive approach to the junction.’
Well Sean, the residents will not argue with you in your final comment ‘This give way would then provide better accessibility out of Rodbourne Road onto the Bruce Street Bridges junction.’
