2. Funding still needed to secure Swindon Half Marathon

Organisers of the Swindon Half Marathon have launched a crowd funding campaign for individuals and companies to make sure the popular event can go ahead on Sunday 16 October.

4. Swindon Musicians Against Homelessness gig

In support of the infamous Alan McGee’s Musicians Against Homelessness, a bunch of Swindon’s musicians are doing their bit for this most worthy of causes

5. Arts Centre marks 60th anniversary and you’re all invited

Swindon Arts Centre will open its doors for a morning of celebrations on Saturday 10th September to mark its 60th Anniversary at the current site on Devises Road, Old Town.

6. Town Gardens bridge begins renovation

The work to replace the bridge is expected to last for nine weeks. Access to the park will be maintained at all times, but park users are advised that there may be slow moving machinery in operation within the park at times.

7. Break-in at auto repair shop – CCTV Video

Unknown offenders forced open a door and were in the building for only around two minutes but in that time were able to fill a dustbin full of Snap On and Mac Tools, valuing in the region of £5000.

8. Swindon Women’s Aid set up new donation point

A new donation point has been set up in Sainsbury’s Stratton store in order to provide support for Swindon Women’s Aid. The charity is dedicated to providing help, including temporary accommodation, to victims of domestic violence and needs a constant supply of vital materials in order to continue.

9. Decision on Lydiard Park now postponed until early 2017

Swindon Borough Council have announced that the decision of who will run Lydiard Park has been put back, confirming expectation that it would not happen until early 2017.

10. Amazon opening Swindon depot next month

Online retailer Amazon have announced the will be opening a delivery operation in Swindon to help relieve the pressure on the current Bristol and Birmingham sites.
