Neighbourhood officers have this week executed a drugs warrant at an address on Radstock Avenue, Park North, uncovering drug-related paraphernalia.
The occupant was subsequently arrested.
The address had been a hotspot for anti-social behaviour and suspected drugs activity, prompting the police to secure a partial closure order through the Swindon Magistrates Court. This order is a step to curb anti-social behaviour coming from the address.
Acting Police Sergeant Whettam highlighted the neighbourhood policing role, stating, “Part of our neighbourhood policing role is to look at medium and long term problems with a view of reducing the impact on those living in the community, we want to provide members of our communities with re-assurance that we are taking Anti-social behaviour and Drug related activity seriously and doing what we can to tackle these issues and provide re-assurance to our communities, We will continue to patrol the area and ensure the order is being adhered to over the next few months at all different times of the day and night, and would urge anyone with concerns to call 101.”
For ongoing issues related to drug supply or anti-social behaviour the police encourage residents to call 101. In emergencies or when a crime is in progress, the emergency line 999 is the appropriate contact.
