A local man stands accused of making attempts to abduct two young girls. The incident, saw Prasath Yasasvin, a resident of North Swindon, appearing before Swindon Magistrates Court charged with two counts of attempted child abduction yesterday.
The events unfolded on Redhouse Way around 7.20 pm on Monday, sparking immediate police action following concerned calls from the public.
Yasasvin has been remanded in custody following his court appearance and is scheduled for a hearing at Swindon Crown Court on April 26th.
Superintendent Guy Elkins addressed the community’s concern, commending the vigilance of those who reported the incident. “I’d like to thank the members of the public who called this incident into us,” he stated, “We take incidents like this extremely seriously and understand the concern it will raise within the local community.”
Elkins also reminded Swindonians to report anything they feel does not look right in the community, “If you see anything that does not seem right, please let us know by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency,” he urged.
The police also remind the public that anyone with information on suspicious activities can report anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
