Swindon’s popular Makers’ Market has seen a surge in visitors and traders since its relaunch earlier this year, with shoppers flocking to The Brunel Shopping Centre to browse an ever-growing selection of handcrafted goods.
Taking place on the second Saturday of every month, the market features a diverse range of independent crafters, artists, and makers offering products including clothing, crochet, artwork, candles, cosmetics, and more — all lovingly handmade and unavailable on the high street.
With just two markets left this year — on Saturday 8 November and Saturday 13 December — organisers at The Brunel are encouraging residents to shop local for Christmas gifts and are calling for new stallholders to join in the festive months ahead.
“Our Makers’ Market has become very popular in recent months, and it’s been lovely to hear our regular traders reporting strong sales,” said Laura Hepple, Centre Manager at The Brunel.
“There’s a strong sense of community here — everyone supports one another, and we have some incredibly talented local crafters. We’re especially looking forward to their Christmas gift inspirations.”
The market’s indoor location at The Brunel offers a warm, dry, and welcoming setting for both shoppers and traders. Visitors can also enjoy a bite to eat or a coffee at The Crossing, making it a full day out for those exploring the town centre.
Regular stallholders have praised the event’s friendly atmosphere and support for small businesses.
Bee Wild, a creative crochet brand, said:
“It’s always great to make new friends, and the people of Swindon have been so friendly. The Brunel are very helpful and accommodating to small businesses.”
Meanwhile, Dellah’s Creations and Curiosities, who sell handmade gifts, added:
“We’re like a community who really care about what we sell, and we love meeting new people. The Brunel management team look after us and we feel welcomed and supported.”
Organisers are now welcoming new traders for 2025 and 2026, with spaces available for crafters, artists, and small local businesses.
