The Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership (SHAP) was honoured to receive a visit from The Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sarah Troughton, at their warehouse unit in Swindon town centre last week.

This visit marked a significant occasion for SHAP, as they had the opportunity to showcase the impactful initiatives they have been involved in since their inception just over 18 months ago.
Efficient Aid Delivery to Ukraine:
With an amazing team of volunteers, SHAP takes pride in its commitment to collecting and delivering essential aid to Ukraine.
With a commendable achievement of dispatching 1500 tonnes of aid, the organisation underscores its effectiveness in humanitarian efforts. Remarkably, this accomplishment has been achieved at a cost of just £18000.
Support for Local Ukrainian Refugees:
Going beyond the conventional aid model, SHAP extends its reach to support local Ukrainian refugee visitors. This assistance encompasses housing provisions, benefits guidance, fostering friendship, coordinating medical care including doctors and dentists, and facilitating the provision of essential furniture, among other vital services.

Focus on the Future: Ukrainian Children:
Recognising the profound impact of the war on Ukrainian children, SHAP directs a special focus toward this vulnerable group.
Acknowledging that these children represent the future of Ukraine post-war and are integral to its reconstruction, SHAP initiated the Children’s Story Bus. This thoughtful project serves as a modest yet meaningful contribution to the well-being and resilience of Ukrainian children affected by the traumas of war.
“Being at the helm of Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership, I am immensely proud of the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts exhibited by our volunteers,” said SHAP Chair Mike Bowden.
“Their commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need is truly inspiring. The recent recognition from The Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sarah Troughton, is not just an acknowledgment of our work but a testament to the collective compassion and selflessness that drives our mission.
“Together, we stand as a beacon of hope, making a difference in the world one act of kindness at a time.”
