Young Swindonians are being invited to unleash their creativity as Redrow South West relaunches its competition to design the ultimate play area.
The housebuilder, currently developing at Badbury Park on Homington Avenue, is giving children aged 7-14 a chance to turn their imaginative ideas into reality, with the competition now in its second year.
Redrow’s competition is open to children living on any of the company’s developments in the region. They are being encouraged to sketch their dream play area, with the winner earning the title of ‘Junior Head of Play’. The successful entrant will follow in the footsteps of last year’s winners, Willow and Indy, who helped design a play area that has since been built.
The winning Junior Head of Play will work alongside Kevin Parker, Group Masterplanning Director at Redrow, providing input on future playgrounds. The winner will also participate in a day of filming at their home development, showcasing their ideas for future play spaces that Redrow will incorporate in upcoming projects across the South West.
To recognise their hard work, the winner will receive £250 in vouchers. Willow and Indy, last year’s competition winners, are excited to welcome another Junior Head of Play. “We can’t wait to have another Junior Head of Play come and join us to help children like us get out and play this summer!” they said.
Sian Smith, who will be working closely with the new Junior Head of Play, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative: “Redrow is thrilled to initiate a countrywide contest, seeking children’s creative ideas for our playgrounds. We aim to listen to the young users of these spaces, enhancing and crafting friendly play areas for future enjoyment.”
Parents interested in entering their children can submit designs by emailing redrowteam@redconsultancy.com with a photo of the play area drawing, along with a short biography, including the Redrow development they reside on.
