Swindon Fire Station Open Day 2026 Set to Bring Community Together for Two Meaningful Causes

This summer, residents will have the chance to step inside and see the work behind the scenes of Swindon Fire Station as it has been confirmed that its much-loved open day will return on Saturday 27th June 2026.

The event, which has become a staple in the local calendar, offers more than just a glimpse into the life of a firefighter. It is an opportunity for families to enjoy a day out while supporting causes that carry real significance for those in the service.

This year, funds raised will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity and Young Lives vs Cancer South Fundraising. Both charities hold deep personal importance. The Fire Fighters Charity continues to provide vital support to serving and retired firefighters, as well as their families, particularly during times of injury or loss. Meanwhile, Young Lives vs Cancer is currently supporting a firefighter from Westlea Fire Station, whose young son Koa is undergoing treatment. The open day aims to rally the community and raise as much as possible to assist families facing unimaginable challenges.

While planning is still underway, organisers have already confirmed a wide range of attractions. Visitors can expect fire service demonstrations, vintage fire engines, and static displays that bring the profession to life. For younger guests, there will be a dedicated kids’ corner, face painting and a bouncy castle, ensuring the day keeps all ages entertained.

Food and refreshments will also play a big part, with local favourites such as Pippin and Co Doughnuts and Lizzie Bakes Cakes set to attend, alongside hot food stalls, sweet treats and fresh coffee. Community partners including Wiltshire Police’s neighbourhood team and the British Red Cross will also be present, adding to the day’s sense of togetherness.

A raffle and tombola will be running throughout the event, with organisers calling on local businesses to donate prizes. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help boost the final fundraising total.

To ensure the event is accessible to all, a dedicated quiet hour will take place from 10am to 11am. This ticket-only session is designed for those who may benefit from a calmer environment, with reduced noise and smaller crowds. General admission will then follow from 11am through to 4pm.

As ever, the open day is expected to draw a strong turnout, with many already marking their calendars. It is not just a day out, but a reminder of the vital role emergency services play in the community, and the importance of supporting those who stand behind them.
