“Avoid Back to School cost of living catastrophe now” – Labour’s Councillor Dixon tells new Education Minister.
Labour’s South Swindon Councillor Paul Dixon has today written to the new Secretary of State for Education to demand urgent action to help parents to avoid a back to school cost of living catastrophe.
As school terms come to an end, Swindon Labour is calling on government to get ahead of the coming crisis by taking action now to support families and children as the costs of food and school uniforms continue to spiral.
Publishing the letter, Councillor Dixon said,
“Families in Swindon need this government to start doing its job and getting ahead of the cost of living crisis. That means taking action on back to school now.
“Prices are rising, real wages are falling and we are all feeling the pinch. Now there is a real danger that soaring food and clothes prices could leave parents unable to afford new school uniforms and children facing smaller or less nutritious meals.
“The Conservatives need to stop fighting amongst themselves and start doing their job. They are letting the people of Swindon down. But Labour has a plan, it’s time for a change of government and a fresh start with Labour.”
