Swindon Charity Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Funding Boost to Support 150 Additional Families

A Swindon charity celebrating its 30th anniversary is set to support an additional 150 families this year, thanks to a generous £1,500 donation.

The Swindon & North Wiltshire Deaf Children’s Society (SNWDCS), which aids deaf and hearing-impaired children and their families, was founded in 1993 by parents of deaf children. It remains a parent-run volunteer organisation, affiliated with the National Deaf Children’s Society.

Josie Singleton, chair of SNWDCS, commented, “With fundraising becoming more challenging, donations play a vital role in sustaining our activities. While we’re affiliated with the National Deaf Children’s Society, we rely on local donations and support. This funding will make a huge difference and enable us to continue our vital work to advance education and promote deaf awareness in our communities.”

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, whose company provided the donation, added, “We’re proud to support SNWDCS – it delivers an essential resource for families in the Swindon and North Wiltshire area, providing vital support and creating a community where deaf children can thrive and reach their full potential.”

To mark its 30th anniversary, SNWDCS has a host of events lined up, including soft play parties for preschool and primary school children, social events for young people and parents, and a summer celebration at Lydiard Park in Swindon on Saturday 31 August.
