The number of coronavirus-related deaths in care homes in Swindon now stands at more than 49, official figures from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have revealed.
These figures represent the number of deaths recorded between 10th April and 8th May in all of the towns care homes where the patient had tested positive for covid-19.
In total there were 93 deaths recorded throughout Swindon care homes in the same period meaning 44 residents passed away from other causes.
The CQC data shows nationally 1,503 deaths in care homes for the week ending 8th May, which is a decrease on the 2,200 recorded for the week ending 1 May.
According to the CQC data, there have been 8,209 deaths involving COVID-19 in care homes over the last four weeks.
