Support local restaurants and takeaways during lockdown

Businesses all across the Swindon, Wiltshire and the rest of the country are fighting to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic – and we are calling on all Swindonians to support local.

We are putting a call out to all of our readers to do all that they can do to support local independent restaurants by ordering local wherever possible.

Ordering from third party delivery apps like UberEats, Deliveroo and JustEat does not really support local businesses. Ok, you are still purchasing from the business. However, with fees and commissions of upto 30-35% of the order value, the amount of money these apps take from business’ profits is startling.

Your Holiday Starts Now

If you are currently self-isolating, then yes, it is better to show support through these third-party delivery apps than none at all.

However, if at all possible ordering takeout or delivery direct through the restaurants website or over the phone can often give you a discount – 10% is much better value to the restaurant than losing 30% to the app.

Another way to show your support to local restaurants and bars, and is completely free of charge to you – post on social media.

Sharing your favourite restaurants posts and offers is a huge help to businesses and will possibly save them from having to dig into their profits to sponsor their posts on social media.

We are not saying stop purchasing from your favorite chains, but try to implement small changes and explore some of the local offerings.
