If the Met Office weather warning was not enough to signal the arrival of meteorological autumn this week, Christmas decorations starting to appear in shops is a sure sign that summer is coming to a close.
The Swindonian have been sent photos of Christmas lights and chocolates being put out alongside Halloween decorations at The Range store in Fleming Way this afternoon.

Scores of festive boxes, bows, wrapping, ribbons, cards, baubles and crackers lined the flooring ready to be placed on the shelves with sections such as Winter Wonderland clearly marked in store.
One shocked reader said: ‘I can’t believe there’s Christmas stuff already, we’re only just out of August!
‘It seems like Christmas comes earlier each year.

‘We still have months to go yet, they could wait just a little bit longer surely?’
When is it acceptable for stores to start stocking Christmas goods?
