Swindon Borough Council are remind residents that there is still time to organise their very own street party for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
To celebrate the Queen becoming the first British monarch to reach the historic milestone of 70 years on the throne, events are taking place across the UK and Commonwealth as part of a year-long programme of events.
Most events are being held over the extended bank holiday between Thursday, 2nd June and Sunday 5th, June 2022.
Despite that weekend still being a few months away, there are some crucial upcoming deadlines for anyone who is planning to host a street party or an event where they will be selling alcohol, providing entertainment (such as music, dancing or indoor sports events) or serving and selling hot food and drink between 11pm and 5am.
- The deadline to submit a street closure application is 13th May 2022
- The deadline for a Temporary Event Notice for licensed activities application is 19 May 2022
These deadlines are in place to make sure that anyone who submits an application has the highest chance of approval in time for the bank holiday weekend.
To find out how to apply Swindon residents can visit Swindon Borough Council’s dedicated Jubilee webpage at www.swindon.gov.uk/platinumjubilee. There is also information on the Big Jubilee Lunch, which encourages communities to come together to celebrate their connections and get to know each other better.
Various local activities to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee are currently being organised and further details will be announced in due course.
