Families are invited to join Stick Man for a magical Christmas adventure as the beloved character from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic picture book launches a brand-new festive trail at Forestry England’s Westonbirt, The National Arboretum.
Running from 5 November through December 2025, the Stick Man Christmas Trail will see young explorers team up with Stick Man and Santa to help deliver the final present of the season. The interactive winter experience offers plenty of fun festive activities and hidden clues to discover who the special gift is for.
A festive family adventure in nature
Josephine Lovelle, National Membership and Marketing Manager at Forestry England, said:
“We’re thrilled to bring families this magical Christmas adventure with Stick Man.
This festive trail perfectly combines the joy of storytelling with outdoor winter exploration, helping children connect with nature during the most wonderful time of year.
Through interactive activities and seasonal discoveries, families can create special Christmas memories whilst learning about how trees and animals adapt to the colder months.”
Trail packs and woodland fun
To make the experience even more special, families can purchase a Stick Man Christmas Trail Pack for £4. Each pack includes:
-
A5 envelope to colour in
-
Christmas trail leaflet
-
Festive stickers
-
Pencil
-
‘Magic’ reveal lens to uncover hidden letters
-
Wooden Stick Man keyring
As families follow the trail panels, they’ll enjoy a festive scavenger hunt, uncover hidden letters, and take part in creative outdoor activities inspired by the winter forest. The trail also features fascinating facts about woodland wildlife, showing how animals and trees adapt during colder months.
A continuing partnership
The Christmas trail extends the successful collaboration between Forestry England and Magic Light Pictures, which began in 2014. Together, they’ve brought Donaldson and Scheffler’s stories — including The Gruffalo, Zog, and Stick Man — to life in natural forest settings, inspiring children and families to enjoy the great outdoors.
Filled with seasonal cheer, woodland wonders, and Christmas magic, the new trail offers the perfect way for families to celebrate the festive season surrounded by nature.
