STEAM to host activities and exhibitions in fun-packed half-term

Get ready for an exciting May half-term at STEAM with a range of family-friendly activities and fresh exhibitions to enjoy.

STEAM, located in a restored Grade II listed railway building and owned by Swindon Borough Council, offers an excellent day out for everyone. Explore the captivating world of the Great Western Railway, delving into the stories of the men and women who built and operated it, all under the visionary engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

During the half-term break, STEAM presents three new special exhibitions that are sure to pique your interest. “In a Man’s World” celebrates the remarkable female pioneers in railway engineering. The second exhibition, “100 Years and Still Steaming,” commemorates the 100th anniversary of the GWR Castle Class locomotive, featuring stunning photographs by the award-winning Jack Boskett. Lastly, “From Railways to Royalty” takes you on a journey through Jack’s extensive collection of portraits, featuring Prime Ministers, celebrities, and members of the Royal Family. All three exhibitions are included with your museum admission.
