Staying well this winter

With the colder months on their way, Swindon Borough Council have teamed up with Great Western Hospital to share some advice on how we can all stay well when the temperatures drop.

This winter is expected to be one of the busiest on record, but there are ways we can help reduce the strain on local health services like the hospital.

Here are some examples:

Your Holiday Starts Now
  • Stock up your medicine cabinet now, ready for winter
  • It’s important to keep yourself and your home warm, but if you’re worried about energy costs, check the financial support available

Below is a video with Steve Maddern, Director of Public Health, giving tips on how you can keep yourself and those around you well this winter.

Seasonal COVID-19 vaccination walk-in clinics are also available for those eligible, which includes people over 65, those with an increased risk and frontline or social care workers.

Upcoming sessions are:

  • Saturday 14th October at Hindu Temple, SN1 1QN, from 10am to 2pm
  • Tuesday 17th October at Sanford House, SN1 1HE, from 10am to 4pm
  • Tuesday 17th October at Broad Green Community Centre, SN1 2AN from 9.30am to 4.30pm

You can find out if you’re eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and see how to schedule an appointment, if you’re unable to visit a walk-in vaccination site, on the NHS website.
