Spudway, the popular jacket potato takeaway located at the Orbit Centre in West Swindon, has relaunched its menu, trimming down its original offering to offer the customers’ firm favourites.
Known for its delicious baked potatoes with a range of delectable toppings, Spudway is open from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm from Wednesday to Friday and 11 am to 4 pm on Saturdays.

Having garnered a strong following since its opening in October, Spudway invited us to sample their fare and experience what they can do with the humble potato firsthand. A beloved British classic, the jacket potato is enjoyed by many across the UK, and Spudway takes pride in serving up this comforting treat to perfection.
Upon entering, it was evident that Spudway is a local hotspot, with staff efficiently preparing orders and regulars savoring their lunches in the small seating area at the front of the unit. The establishment boasts a five-star food hygiene rating, with standards noted as “very good” during their last inspection in November.
From classics like chili con carne and cheese melt to enticing options like chicken tikka, tuna mayo, and even a create-your-own option, the menu may have been trimmed down, but there is something to suit every taste.
While maybe a little boring to most, my go-to choice on a jacket potato is cheese and beans with lots of cheese! we also decided to sample the newest addition to their menu – The Prawn Mayo.
Despite the bustling nature of the place, the service was surprisingly fast, with the friendly and warm staff efficiently attending to orders whilst holding a friendly conversation with the waiting customers too.
At first glance, I was impressed by the generous portion size, ensuring a satisfying meal.
For just £5.00, you receive a large potato adorned with a generous serving of beans and a heaping handful of cheese, resulting in a truly delightful flavor combination. The potato itself was light, fluffy, and boasted a deliciously crispy crust. The beans taste akin to the renowned Heinz variety, with a rich and saucy texture that complements the dish perfectly and the cheese was melting effortlessly into the sauce, providing a satisfyingly gooey experience.
To accompany the main attraction, each jacket potato comes with a lovely side salad, providing a delightful nibble for afterward that is unless you are like me and tend to dodge the salad.
While jacket potatoes may seem simple to prepare, executing them to perfection is no easy feat. However, both my and my partner’s choices, she went for the Prawn Mayo, were cooked flawlessly. The potato skin had a lovely crispness, while the interior was wonderfully fluffy – precisely what you’d expect from a top-notch jacket potato.
Each mouthful was a testament to the care and dedication put into creating these flavorful masterpieces. Spudway’s jacket potatoes are not only tasty but also wholesome, making every penny spent well worth it.
What I think truly sets Spudway apart is the quality of their jacket potatoes. A jacket potato is the epitome of comfort food, capable of brightening even the gloomiest of days. And let me tell you, even on a warm sunny afternoon, Spudway’s jacket potatoes were pure comfort on a plate so if you find yourself yearning for a large, cheese and bean-filled jacket potato, Spudway is the place to go. Their commitment to providing an amazing fluffy jacket potato, coupled with their warm and welcoming staff, will undoubtedly have you coming back for more.
