Speeding drivers in your area targeted as part of Wiltshire Roads Policing Campaign

Speeding drivers have been targeted over the last two days in areas across Swindon as part of our week-long road safety campaign to reduce seriously injured and fatal road traffic collisions (RTCs) in Wiltshire.

The Stratton, Central North & West Swindon Community Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted speed checks on Ermin Street, Akers Way, and Tewkesbury Way.

Three traffic offence reports (TORs) were issued for speeds ranging between 39 and 41mph in a 30mph zone, while a number of drivers were given strong words of advice in relation to their speeding.

A/Sgt Nathan Martin said: “These are locations that the public have raised their concerns with us about.

“We are always trying to reduce the numbers of those harmed on the roads in Swindon.

“Driving at excessive speed is selfish and extremely dangerous, especially in wet and dark conditions that we have seen this week and will continue to see throughout winter.

“The messaging this week has been simple, there is never an excuse to speed.

“If you have concerns of speeding in your area, we encourage you to contact your local authority to report it.”
