It’s gold again for South Swindon — and then some.
The town is in full bloom this week after scooping Gold for the third year running and taking home the prestigious Tesco Cup at the RHS South West in Bloom Awards 2025, held in Torbay, Devon, on Wednesday 8 October.
The Tesco Cup is one of the region’s top horticultural honours, awarded to the best large town entry in the South West. South Swindon’s continued success marks it as one of the region’s shining examples of what can be achieved when local pride, creativity, and teamwork come together.
And the golden haul didn’t stop there — South Swindon also picked up the Urban Community Award, recognising the area’s drive to bring colour, greenery, and nature to busy urban spaces.
RHS judges praised the group’s ability to “galvanise the power and emotion of bringing people together,” acknowledging how the campaign has united residents, volunteers, and local businesses in transforming the town’s parks, planters, and public spaces.
Cllr Linda Kasmaty, a long-standing South Swindon In Bloom committee member, said:
“This is about pride, heritage, and community spirit. Together, we’re showing what makes South Swindon such a brilliant place to live.”
The team extended heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, community groups, and local supporters who give their time and energy throughout the year. Their work goes far beyond flowers — tackling graffiti, fly-tipping, and litter to make South Swindon cleaner, greener, and more welcoming.
Cllr Kasmaty added:
“We are absolutely thrilled. This gold medal and category win reflect the heart and determination of so many local people who care deeply about South Swindon. Every planted corner, mural, school project, and litter pick adds up to something powerful — a community that’s proud of where it lives and eager to make it even better.”
With momentum clearly on their side, South Swindon In Bloom now has its sights set on representing the area on a national stage.
