This week, South Swindon MP Robert Buckland has chosen to shine a spotlight on RSPCA Oak and Furrows as his local charity of the week.
Being an avid animal lover himself, Buckland’s support for this charity stems from his personal experience of adopting a grey tabby cat named Mrs Landingham (affectionately known as Mrs L) through an animal welfare charity earlier this year.
RSPCA Oak and Furrows, based in Cricklade, plays a vital role in rescuing and caring for numerous animals each year, including those in the South Swindon area. The charity’s core mission revolves around preventing cruelty, promoting kindness, and alleviating the suffering of animals. They strive to meet the five fundamental needs of all animals, which include providing a suitable environment, a proper diet, opportunities for normal behavior, and protection from pain, suffering, injury, and disease.
Currently, RSPCA Oak and Furrows are seeking donations of unwanted clothing items to support its network of ten charity shops in the region. The proceeds from these shops contribute to the center’s operational costs. Individuals who wish to contribute can do so by donating their unwanted clothes to the shop located in The Parade, Swindon Town Centre.
Aside from clothing donations, there are various other ways in which the community can support RSPCA Oak and Furrows. To learn more about the charity’s work and discover additional ways to get involved, please visit their website at https://www.rspcaoandf.org.uk/.
Robert Buckland encourages local residents to join him in supporting this worthy cause, emphasising the importance of animal welfare and the invaluable role played by organizations like RSPCA Oak and Furrows in safeguarding and caring for our furry friends.
